Share Your Presentations on the Web with SlideShare

Share Powerpoint and Keynote Presentations OnlineSo you’ve got a great Powerpoint presentation, PDF file or Office document that you’d love to share on your website, but don’t want interrupt people and have them go offsite to download a Powerpoint viewer, Adobe Reader or any other software plugins?  If you’d like an easier way to convert your presentations to a web-ready format, check out SlideShare.

Oh, and did I mention it’s completely FREE?

SlideShare concentrates on giving you an easy and straightforward way to share multiple types of documents including Powerpoint, PDF, Word, OpenOffice and Keynote (Mac).

The service then converts these documents into Flash-based slides so that they can be embedded on websites.  You can also email them to a maximum of 20 people.  A Facebook “Like” button is also included alongside your video on SlideShare.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a memorable slideshow if it only contained slides.  That’s why SlideShare also lets you add audio files, such as voice narration or background music to create a Slidecast.  You can then (optionally) turn your Slidecast into a video – which can then be uploaded and hosted at SlideShare at no charge.

So What Does All This Mean for Website Business Owners?

SlideShare gives you the opportunity to leverage your best work by introducing it to a whole new (media savvy) audience.  Getting truly great content out to your audience is all about seeking them out where THEY are, not beating them over the head and dragging them back to your cave.

When you can take a well-written article and turn it into a slideshow, which can then evolve into a video – and share it all at no cost through the web, email and Facebook – you’ve got the perfect (FREE) vehicle to reach new customers.
