7 Beautiful Blue WordPress Themes – Free for Your Blog

If you’ve been searching high and low for a blue WordPress theme that looks good and is flexible enough to grow with your blog – you’ll find 7 of the best ones right here, all in one place – and free to download.

Many are widget-ready which lets you customize the sidebars with search, ads, latest blog postings, videos, photos and much more.  Most are compatible with WordPress version 2.8 or above and can be used for commercial blogs (unless noted below).

 Balance of Blue

A superb corporate-style blue WordPress theme ideal for businesses, the Balance of Blue theme includes two columns and a 468×60 ad banner slot in the top as well as a 300×250 ad slot on the sidebar.

You can also preview a live demo to see the theme at work.  Basic customization option and codes are included below the theme description if you feel comfortable with editing the code.

BlueStation

This widget-ready blue WordPress theme includes several ad blocks (300×250 size) as well as several configurable options available directly from your WordPress dashboard which allow you to customize the header, footer and ad code sections.  An editable Photoshop file is also included to allow you to change the logo.

Mezzo

The 3-column Mezzo theme is currently in its third incarnation for WordPress 2.3 and up.  It works best if you download the included (free) plugins on the Mezzo theme page, but will work without them.  Mezzo is also compatible with Google Adsense and includes the editable Photoshop file to change the logo.

Blues from Smashing Magazine

I’m a big fan of Smashing Magazine and their WordPress themes are second-to-none.  This page highlights two themes, Vintage and Blues, which are both exceptionally designed with great attention to detail.

By default, Blues is focused around a teaching design, however you can download the theme and the accompanying Photoshp files to edit it to your heart’s content.

WooThemes Irresistable

A gorgeous blue WordPress theme designed by the highly-acclaimed WooThemes team. Includes sections for video and photo uploads, lots of user-friendly customization options and built-in banner ad management.  This theme is only available for personal use, and includes 9 different color schemes – in case you get tired of the blue version.

BizMag

A lovely 3-column WordPress theme with a dash of orange to spice things up.  This theme is based on the popular magazine style themes on many WordPress blogs.  The demo link currently isn’t active and you may have to right-click the Download link and choose “Save Target As…” to get to the zip file.  Hopefully this is something they’ll correct soon.

CorporateMag

As its name implies, CorporateMag is a quality-made, professional Web 2.0 style WordPress theme with a built-in content slider that allows your users to preview photos and content simultaneously on the front page.  It’s also widget-ready and fully customizable.

What a brilliant idea! You have probably just saved people a ton of hours with this information. I particularly like the Woo themes Irresistible. Not that I’m actually looking for a blue theme at the moment, seem to have got stuck on purple but I’m bookmarking this page for future websites.

Hope you will be doing this for every colour under the sun – that would make an amazing resource!

    Thanks again.

    Hi Rachel,

Darn! You uncovered my evil master plan to cover every color (and “theme”) possible. :)
