With competition for online shoppers growing fiercer as the holiday season heats up, so does pay-per-click bidding.  Even though you hear the media crowing in the background about how this shopping year will be tight because of the economic situation, don’t think for a minute that your competitors are going to sit this one out.

If you haven’t already, take a good look at your PPC budget and consider raising your bids to attract holiday shoppers to key products.  By directing them to specially-crafted landing pages rather than the default product pages, you’ll be able to highlight holiday-specific features like free shipping, gift cards and other attractive options beyond the original product they came for.

This week’s focus on iElectrify is getting your site ready for the holiday season.  Each day I’ll be covering a new holiday marketing tip from design to customer service to after-holiday sales.

Despite the economic slump, Forrester Research has estimated that online holiday sales will be $200 billion or more this year.  Lots of folks will be flocking to the web on Cyber Monday (the first workday after Thanksgiving), looking for online bargains like free shipping, no sales tax and gift bundles.

As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been hanging some Christmas lights on the blog to make it a bit more seasonal.  Likewise, creating a holiday theme for your web page doesn’t have to be time-consuming or intensive.  Adding a few splashes of holiday color and a little imagery can go a long way.
